MOS Tech Brief

MOS Tech Brief

Mean Opinion Score (MOS) is a key VoIP quality metric, attempting to capture the complex nature of speech quality in a single metric… but there are many ways to calculate and measure MOS, some of which don’t take into account the significant effects echo, delay, noise, call volume, and clipping have on user-perceived conversation-quality. Certain MOS algorithms are designed only for specific applications, and when used outside their intended scope scores can significantly misrepresent reality.

This tech brief explains the origin of MOS, it’s intended use, and the variety of standards-based algorithms commonly used to calculate it; each is explained with a simplified block diagram showing the test layout used, along with their strengths and weaknesses in various applications. Also covered are the impacts analog and IP input measurements have on MOS, and which algorithms are best suited to measuring speech quality as callers perceive it.

Vitesse
Layer
console)。
CPU。

Marvell

美国AT

AT Wireless,AT

Lily Zheng

June Yang

Lena Kong

Ally Zhang

Moon Lu

Bob Zhang

Caron Xu

Lisa Jiang

Jill Wang

David Jiang

Irene Zhang

Ben Li

Jet Li

Tim Xie

James Hou

Sam Xu

Lynn Zhu

May Wang

Jane Wu

Sandy Wu

Helen Guan

Fanny Chen

Sharon Li

Susan Wang

Jason Zhou

Catherine Luo

Diane Dong

Vincent Cui

Tracy Li

Hunter Huang

Maple Shen

Fountain Liu

Stellar Wang

Ice Li

Tiger Yuan

Sky Qi

Cloud Bai

River Liu

Apple Chen

Wonderful Quotations

Hey guys! Long time no see! Here comes Dannie’s special tribute for you.

No. 1 – No. 4 (这四条是Ford汽车的广告语,the four Nevers,经典中的经典)

Never mind the stares.

Never let imagination get into the way of reality.

用处:get into the way of (doing) something的意思是养成某某习惯。

Never be afraid to take a hit.

Never bite off less than you can chew.

No. 5

He has too often proved himself a loose cannon。

No.6

It is 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will; 5% pleasure, 50% pain and 100% reason to remember the name. – From the Song “Remember the Name” by Fort Minor (DJ Hann, the emcee of the celebrated rock band Linkin Park)

No. 7

If you had one shot, or one opportunity, to seize everything you ever wanted, you capture it, or just let it slip? – From Eminem’s inspirational rap song “Lose Yourself”"

No. 8

Sometimes we have to pull the all-nighter.

No. 9

There is no use doing what you like; you gotta like what you do.

No. 10

Survive! Thrive! Triumph!

Good luck!See you next time.

Examples:

1,234 读作:one thousand,two hundred and thirty-four

4,567,809 读作:four million,five hundred and sixty-seventhousand,eight hundred and nine

5,678,120,000 读作:five billion,six hundred and seventy-eight million,one hundred and twe nty thousand

Examples:

fifteen['fif'ti:n] fifty['fifti]

nineteen['nai'ti:n] ninety['naiti]

1,900 one thousand, nine hundred nineteen hundred 4,000,000,000 four thousand million four billion

美国英语中,常用“after ”代替“past”,用“before”(或till)代替“ to”。

Examples:

8:00 读作:eight o'clock或eight

9:15 读作:a qusrter past nine(英式)

或 a quarter after nine(美式)

或 eleven thirty(美式)

7:50 读作:ten to eight(英式)

或 ten before eight(美式)

Examples:

4:30 p.m. 读作:four-thirty p.m.

Examples:

541 B.C. 读作:five four one B.C

或 five hundred fourty-one

B.C

1800 读作:eighteen hundred

1701 读作:seventeen oh one

或 seveteen hundred and one

2000 读作:two thousand

Examples:

in the 1840's 读作:in the eighteen fourties (十九世纪四十年代)

in the 1950's 读作:in the nineteen fifties(二十世纪五十年代)

in the '60's 读作:in the sixties(本世纪六十年代)

如:in the early 1770's;in the late 1590's。

Examples:

in the 2nd century 在二世纪

in the mid 13th century

除了几个特殊的序数词(如first,second,third)外,它都是在与之相 应的基数词尾加“-th”构成的,前面一般要加定冠词,如the fourth,the eighth,the tenth。

Examples:

Room three four four

Examples:

1/3 读作:one-third

7/12 读作:seven-twelfths

1/2 读作:a(one)half

3/4 读作:three quarters

2 1/2 读作:two and a half

20/87 读作:twenty over eighty-seven

33/90 读作:thirty-three over ninety

Examples:

2.468 读作:two point four six eight

Examples:

20% 读作:twenty per cent

16.09% 读作:sixteen point zero nine per cent

SIP: Information from Answers.com

SIP: Information from Answers.com

SIP

1. (Session Initiation Protocol) An IP telephony signaling protocol developed by the IETF. Primarily used for voice over IP (VoIP) calls, SIP can also be used for video or any media type; for example, SIP has been used to set up multi-player Quake games. With SIMPLE extensions for IM and presence, SIP is also used for instant messaging (see SIMPLE).

SIP is a text-based protocol that is based on HTTP and MIME, which makes it suitable and very flexible for integrated voice-data applications. SIP is designed for realtime transmission, uses fewer resources and is considerably less complex than H.323. Its addressing scheme uses URLs and is human readable; for example: sip:john.doe@company.com.

SIP relies on the session description protocol (SDP) for session description and the realtime transport protocol (RTP) for actual transport (see RTP and SDP). Windows XP was the first version of Windows to natively support SIP for PC-based phone applications, and numerous vendors make SIP desktop phones. See SIP proxy.
